Garvin Brewster Batson, 70, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014.


Born March 15, 1944, in Altheimer, he was a son of the late William Jasper and Oma Mae Everett Batson. He was reared and received his education in Reydell and Altheimer areas, attending Altheimer High School.


As a young man he worked alongside his father on the family farm. He moved to the Pine Bluff area and took a position with Pepsi Cola Company as a route driver for several years. Mr. Batson then took a job with Coke Cola Company, first as a route driver, then as a salesman and finally retiring as a dispatch operator.


In February of 1967, he married Deborah Miley in Pine Bluff. Together they had four sons and shared over forty years of life, love and memories, until her death in 2007.


Mr. Batson attended Family Church in White Hall.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Deborah Batson; his brothers, William Oscar Batson, Sr., Rickey Doyle Batson, and his sisters, Margaret Cook, Bertie Joe Mason, Emma Jean Batson and Claudine Cook.


He is survived by his sons, Rickey Batson and Anthony, of White Hall, Donald Batson and Linda, of Jefferson, Bryant Batson and Jeffery Batson both of Pine Bluff; his grandchildren, De De Batson, D.J. Batson, Hunter Batson, Avalon Batson and Alex Layton; his sisters Joyce Small and Linda Davis both of the Hardin Community; his brother, Robert Lee Batson, of Pryor, Oklahoma; along with a host of extend family and dear friends.


Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Dan McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Robinson’s. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.


The family will be located at the Batson residence, 1205 Gamble Road, White Hall, Arkansas.
