Editor, The Commercial:

This letter is in support of Ms. Goldie Diane Whitaker in her endeavor to be re-elected to the Watson Chapel School Board for Position 1, Zone 5. Ms. Whitaker has demonstrated through her graceful public service that she understands the role of a school board member.

She has a devotion to the Watson Chapel School District, because both she and her children are graduates of the district. She has a desire to see the district make continued progress so that the educational opportunities in the district continues to grow. Her leadership attributes are transcendent and timeless. Voters should vote for Ms. Whitaker to continue her outstanding representation on the Watson Chapel School Board.

Since Ms. Whitaker has been a member of the Watson Chapel School Board, she has exemplified the very best as a member. She currently serves as President of the Board, and has served 2 years representing the district as a delegate at the Arkansas School Board Association (ASBA) meeting. Additionally, Ms. Whitaker has served as a member of Neighborhood Watch for 26 years and is a member of Go Forward Pine Bluff’s Education Alliance.

Ms. Whitaker cares deeply about the quality of education for all students and has advocated fairly and passionately for students, families, teachers, and administrators, whether it be addressing new curriculum requirements and changes, maintaining educational excellence under a strict fiscal regimen or selecting a successor for superintendent.

For these reasons, I am supporting Ms. Goldie Diane Whitaker for the Watson Chapel School Board, and I ask all of the voters in Zone 5 of the Watson Chapel School District to do likewise.

Laverne Graham,

Pine Bluff
