Mike Ross didn’t help blacks

Editor, The Commercial:

The General Election is on Nov. 4 and I want to share a comment made by Malcolm X in 1964 about blacks giving Democrats 80 percent of their vote.

He stated, "You put them first and they put you last, cause you are a chump, a political chump!… Any time you throw your weight behind a political party that controls two-thirds of the government and that party can’t keep the promise that it made to you during election time and you are dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party, you’re not only a chump but you’re a traitor to your race."

Today it is even worse with about 90 to 95 percent of the black vote being in lockstep with the Democratic Party, yet the Democrats have not kept their promises of family, stability, education and job creation. I will be the first to admit that all Democrats don’t subscribe to this trickery, Sen. Mark Pryo,r to name one, but Mike Ross is the type of Democrat to whom Malcolm X referred.

He served the 4th District for 12 years and did nothing to help BLACKS. He gave lip service only. Former Congressman Jay Dickey did more than Ross. For 12 years he (Ross) patronized BLACKS and provided them nothing. Now, he wants BLACKS to support him for governor. "You got to be kidding."

"Boss Ross" failed us in the past and he will do the same thing as governor. He voted against Obamacare and called himself a "Blue Dog Democrat." What is that? Blacks in Arkansas should use common sense in the governor’s race and elect Asa Hutchinson. Give him an opportunity to serve BLACKS and not patronize them like "Boss Ross."
