ACCESS Inc., a teen pregnancy prevention agency, located at 200 W. 13th Ave., needs volunteers to serve in these capacities: Executive/administrative assistant who can volunteer 10 hours per week, child-care workers to watch children while parents participate in programs and volunteers to prepare food. American Red Cross is in need of volunteers to fill a variety of positions, compassionate people willing to help those in need due to natural disasters. These people will be trained before being sent to the disaster scene. Other opportunities include working with the Red Cross youth group or as receptionist in the Red Cross office to answer the phone, greet, sort mail, etc. Call Donna Booth Johnson at the Southeast Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross office at 534-7312 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Pine Bluff and Jefferson County, a non-profit tax-exempt organization serving abused and neglected children throughout Jefferson County, needs volunteers to assist with the supervision of children, educational programs and 870-850-7105 for more information.

Davis Life Care centers have many volunteer opportunities. Delta Rivers Nature Center needs volunteers to help with special programs such as the Quilting Show, Summer Plant Sale, Trail Tours, Boo on the Bayou and Christmas for the Birds. Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation Community Centers are seeking volunteers for its After School Enrichment Program, which also extends through the summer. Volunteers are needed to tutor in all subjects for children ages 5 to 15 in grades K-10. We also need volunteer coaches for basketball, track, soccer and kickball.
