Simmons First National Bank recently announced the election of Dean Chambliss and Johnny McGraw to the Board of Directors, according to J. Thomas May, chairman and chief executive officer.

“We are honored that both Dean Chambliss and Johnny McGraw have accepted the nomination to serve on the Board of Directors for Simmons First National Bank,” May said. “These two individuals bring a tremendous level of first hand experience to the board, especially in regards to the agricultural industry in Southeast Arkansas, which is an extremely important part of our business.”

Chambliss is a life-long resident of Jefferson County and the owner of H&D Farms, farming 2,000 acres of row crops in Jefferson County.

He is the son of Jo Chambliss and the late Harvey Chambliss, and took over the family farm operation in 1994. The Chambliss family was selected as the Jefferson County Farm Family of the Year in 1992.

Chambliss is a former co-owner and president of Bayou Gin Co. Chambliss is a graduate of Pine Bluff High School and attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the baseball team and Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is currently a board member of Fifty for the Future and has previously served on the Farmers Supply Board and American Legion Baseball Board.

Chambliss is married to Susanne Chambliss and they have two daughters.

McGraw, owner of McGraw Farms, has farmed in Lincoln County for more than 30 years and currently farms 2,500 acres of row crops. The son of B.F. and Thelma McGraw, he started farming with his father in 1976 and took over the family farming operation in 1986.

The McGraw family was selected as the Lincoln County Farm Family of the Year in 1988. McGraw graduated from Star City High School and holds a business degree from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

He currently serves as a Conservation District director in Lincoln County for Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS), is a board member for the Lincoln County Farm Bureau and serves on the finance committee for the First Baptist Church of Star City.

He formerly served on the board of the Farm Service Agency and the Star City School Board. McGraw is married to Nancy McGraw and they have a son and daughter.
