A Jefferson County constable was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of rape.

A Jefferson County constable was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of rape.

Thomas Eagle, 50, is accused of raping a male who is currently 27 years old but was 11 at the time of the alleged incident, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Eagle is constable of the Melton Township, which is in the area of the Ladd community in the south-central portion of Jefferson County, on the Lincoln County border.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is conducting the investigation. Eagle was arrested “following the collection of both tangible and non-tangible evidence,” according to the release.

After his arrest, Eagle was booked into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center at 12:22 p.m. on a charge of rape. Bail for Eagle has not been set and he is scheduled for a probable cause hearing Friday morning in Jefferson County District Court.
