Melvin Leroy Maple, age 88, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, April 30, 2012.

Mr. Maple was born March 8, 1924 at Gordon, Neb., a son of the late Roy Charles Maple and Della Hoggard Maple. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Maple was a self-employed mechanic/welder and a member of Shannon Road Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Riggins Maple; brothers, Frank, Vern, Robert, William, Lyle, and Harold; and sisters, Alma, Bernice, Liz, and Annie.

He is survived by his children, Melba Maple Haynes (Martin) of Hot Springs, Kay Maple Vanlandingham (W.D.) of Pine Bluff, Michael M. Maple of Redfield, Emma Maple Brann (Jerry) Pine Bluff, and J. Scott Maple (Tracy) of Conway, Ark.; a sister, Shiler labers of Santa Cruz, Calf.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, in Hardin Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services. There will be no formal visitation.
