Editor, The Commercial:

The save St. Joseph Catholic School Committee has been tasked by Bishop Taylor to raise $200,000 and pre-enroll 60 students by the end of the month. God has put in my heart to fight for the Body of Christ in Jefferson County. If SJC School closes, there will not be any junior or senior high Catholic schools in the Delta or southern regions of Arkansas. Just like the closing of Trinity School weakened the Body of Christ in Pine Bluff, so will the closing of St. Joseph.

The history of Catholic education in Jefferson County is a tribute to all the Catholic priests, nuns, deacons, teachers and lay members of church and community that have taught our children in the Catholic faith and in the Catholic schools since 1838. Mount St. Mary Academy opened its doors in 1838, the Annunciation Academy in 1880, St. Peter Catholic School in 1889, and St. Joseph Catholic School in 1968. With your help and God's blessing, we can continue this important mission in Pine Bluff. Please pray for our schools and support us by pledging or donate via PayPal http://www.sjcpinebluff.com/ or send a pledge via email to SaveSJC@gmail.com or send a check to St. Joseph Catholic School, 1501 W. 73rd, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71603. We are now taking enrollment for grades seven through 12. Enrollment fee is only $25. 870-540-0413. St. Peter Catholic PreK 3-4th grade school is also having a fund drive and pre-enrolling http://stpeterspinebluff.org/id1.html.

Continue to pray for us that God will reveal the "truth" and the "truth" will set us free and enable the school to grow in the Holy Spirit, peace, unity, love of Christ and each other.
