It's been a tough start for both Whitney O'Dell and the University of Arkansas-Monticello.

The Cotton Blossoms keep losing close games. Four straight, in fact, under eight points or less.

O'Dell, who transferred to UAM from Lyon College, had a season-high 10 points in the team's 68-60 loss to Harding on Thursday. Saturday, O'Dell finished with six points in a 58-56 loss to Ouachita Baptist.

The Cotton Blossoms have lost two other tight games this season — 58-57 to Mississippi College and 57-53 to Lincoln University.

O'Dell, a Southside graduate, is averaging 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Lani Snowden

College: Henderson State

Lani Snowden didn't have her best shooting night in Saturday's 70-62 win over Arkansas Tech. The former Van Buren standout didn't miss any free throws.

Snowden, just 2-of-10 from the field, including 1-of-5 from the 3-point line, was 5-for-5 from the foul line in the victory. She is averaging 6.8 points a game while averaging 29.8 minutes per game.

The Reddies (5-1, 2-0) opened Great American Conference play Thursday with a 63-42 blowout of Southern Arkansas.

HSU will host Wiley College on Tuesday and return to the Duke Wells Center on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip against Harding University.

Hailey Ostrander

College: University of the Ozarks

Hailey Ostrander is having a big senior season at the University of the Ozarks.

But the Lady Eagles dropped to 2-5 overall following Saturday's 77-73 loss to the University of Texas at Tyler. Ostrander had 25 points in the Eagles' 75-71 win over Hendrix last Tuesday.

Ostrander, who is also a star softball player for Ozarks, leads the team with 15.8 points per game.

The Eagles (2-5 overall and 0-1 in the American Southwest Conference) host McMurry (Texas) today and Hardin-Simmons (Texas) Wednesday before traveling to Waco, Texas, to play Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Freddy Lee

High School: Clarksville

College: Arkansas Tech

Former Clarksville shooter Freddy Lee finished with nine points in the Wonder Boys' 80-79 loss to Henderson State.

Tech, 0-2 in the Great American Conference, travels to Plano, Texas, on Tuesday to face Eastern New Mexico. The team returns to GAC play Saturday against Arkansas-Monticello.

Lee had a season-high seven assists in the team's season-opening 74-71 win over Minnesota Crookston back on Nov. 10. His season-high fort points (11) came in a triple-overtime 118-113 loss to Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) in mid-November.

Ariel Walker

College: Allen Community College

Ariel Walker is having a banner season for the Allen Community College Red Devils.

She scored 19 points in Saturday's 82-60 loss to Garden City CC. The Red Devils are 2-9 overall.

Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Walker is averaging 14.5 points a game over her last eight games, which included a career-high 26-point effort and career-high six 3-pointers in a 71-52 loss to Pratt Community College.

Allen CC hopes to snap an eight-game skid Tuesday against Seward County College.

Hailey Bunch

College: Central Arkansas Baptist

Hailey Bunch of Northside helped lead Central Arkansas Baptist to a pair of wins last week.

Bunch had eight points and three assists in CBC's 77-67 win over Park University Saturday afternoon.

She had seven points in the team's 103-31 win over Stephens College on Saturday. Eleven players scored at least two points in the win.

The Mustangs host Missouri Baptist Universityat 1 p.m. Saturday.

Phillips started all 12 games for the Bole Weevils (6-6). ...
