UAPB is coming of a 70-41 loss at South Florida on Tuesday night. The Golden Lions had good moments in the first half, but turnovers particularly in the second half proved costly.

“After reviewing the tape, there were a lot of things we could have controlled better,” said UAPB head coach George Ivory. “For instance, cutting back on turnovers (21), moving our feet on defense, and blocking out, all things we put heavy emphasis on Thursday in practice.”

Gonzaga has been one of the nation’s best teams, posting three consecutive 30+ win seasons and losing in the national championship game three years ago. The Zags also opened the season this past Tuesday, defeating Alabama St. 95-64.

“There are a lot of challenges in facing Gonzaga,” Ivory said. “They are tough at home, are very big while also being an athletic team. They also rebound the ball well, so we’ll have to have great effort on the glass.”
