MONTICELLO – Matt Whiting has been promoted to associate athletic director at Arkansas-Monticello.

Whiting, who lettered in baseball at the university from 2009-10, currently serves as external operations director for UAM athletics. He’s been instrumental in rebranding the UAM Sports Association, which is the private fundraising arm for the athletic department, according to a news release. Under his watch, UAM has seen a 130 percent increase in annual donors and an increase of better than 400 percent in annual donations.

Whiting also helped the UAM Athletics Partnership add 14 corporate-level partners during the 2013-14 sports season and helped the school raise more than $400,000 for the Swing for the Fences campaign to specifically provide resources to renovate the baseball and softball facilities on campus, the release added.

"Matt has been a tireless worker since he joined UAM Athletics three years ago," UAM athletic director Chris Ratcliff said in the release. "It is appropriate and time to move him up to Associate Athletic Director. Matt has a great vision for small-college athletics and has helped UAM reach goals it has never come close to reaching before. He is a great asset to the University and UAM fans nationwide."

Whiting holds a degree in business administration from UAM and an MBA from Arkansas-Little Rock.
