The White Hall City Council discussed Monday the progress being made on the James "Jitters"Morgan Community Center.

"All the things are progressing well for the community center," White Hall Mayor Noel Foster said. "It is going to be a place that we can all be proud of."

Foster said that the construction team told him that the expected completion date could either be in December or January.

"What they told me is that the gym floor has to acclimate to the building in two months," Foster said. "We don’t want to rush construction for the center, but there is a possibility it could be done in December."

In other business, Foster reminded the public that White Hall residents who want their leaves picked up must call City Hall by Friday for them to be picked up by Monday.

The financial report given by City Clerk/Treasurer Ellen Welch was approved by the council.

Foster mentioned White Hall being awarded a 2014 City of Distinction award for tourism earlier this month.

Foster publicly thanked the White Hall Chamber of Commerce for its work on the 50th Founder’s Day Festival, which is coming up this weekend.

"They have worked really hard to make this Founder’s Day Festival the best one we have ever had," Foster said.
