DELTONA, Fla. — A man angry because he believed his ex-girlfriend was not caring for his dogs while he was away retaliated by posting a sex tape of the woman on social media, according to a report from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathon Stokes, 26, of Deltona, was arrested Monday and charged with sexual cyberharassment. A first offense is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in the county jail.

Stokes was released the same day on $1,500 bail from the Volusia County Branch Jail. He could not be reached for comment.

Stokes’ ex-girlfriend, whose name was redacted in the report, went to deputies once she discovered videos of them having sex on Snapchat, a popular social media platform, the report states.

According to the ex-girlfriend, the sexual videos followed a series of angry posts from Stokes because he believed she wasn’t keeping her promise of taking care of his dogs while he was out of town, the report states.

The ex-girlfriend also told investigators that the sex tape was recorded with her consent but that she did not give him permission to post the video, the report states.

Once investigators said they could clearly identify the couple in the video, they went to Stokes’ home, according to the report.

When confronted by deputies, Stokes said he did not post any sexual videos before pulling out his phone to say that he had only “ranted” about his ex-girlfriend, the report states.

But when deputies told Stokes they had seen the posting on another phone, Stokes admitted he deleted the sex videos after he was counseled by a friend, the report states.

Stokes said he posted the videos on Snapchat “out of spite,” according to the report.
