Police: Man, 43, dies of gunshot

A 43-year-old man was found shot to death early Thursday morning, according to a Facebook post by the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Just before 1 a.m., officers went to the area of 27th and Ash streets because of a report of gunshots. Shortly after the call about the gunfire, another call was received about a person who had been shot at 2702 S. Ash St.

Officers went to the address where they found 43-year-old Willie Purifoy inside the residence. Purifoy had suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was unresponsive, according to police. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County coroner's office.

"Persons of interest in this homicide are being interviewed at the time of this release," stated the police. "No one has been arrested for the homicide at this point. This homicide is in the early stages of the investigation and there is no suspect information to be released at this time."
