Yes, it's almost time to go back to the polls.

There were two races in the Democratic primary held on March 5 that will now be decided by a runoff, which will be held on April 2.

For mayor, it's the incumbent, Mayor Shirley Washington, running against state Rep. Vivian Flowers, who gave up her seat in the state Legislature to run for the city's top seat. Those two survived a crowded field of mayoral candidates. There were no candidates running in the Republican primary. The winner of the Democratic primary will likely face multiple candidates who have said they plan to file later in the year as independents for the mayor's seat.

The other race is between Glen Brown Sr. and William Fells. Brown is the incumbent and Fells most recently worked for Washington in her administration. Brown and Fells beat out a third candidate for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Ward City Council seat. They too could face someone filing as an independent although no one has come forward to say they plan on running for the seat.
