Southeast Arkansas College's baseball team was well in command going into the seventh inning of a doubleheader opener against Central Baptist College on Wednesday in Conway, but was not done plating runs.
SEARK scored 12 runs in the seventh to fashion a 21-4 win, their second straight. The evening game was in progress at the copy deadline.
SEARK (15-21) has won 4 of 6 since March 13 and has scored 32 runs in its past 2 games, following an 11-1 win at home against National Park College on Monday. The Sharks have scored 10 or more runs on 10 occasions this season.
Six players lined 2 or more hits for SEARK. Cameron Gonzalez went 3 for 5 with 4 runs scored. Drake Lee, Gatlon Steele (3 runs batted in), Camden Carver (3 runs), Logan Deloach (3 runs) and Howard Bachus Jr. (2 RBI, 2 runs) each had 2 hits.
Dominic Tizzano struck out 2 and gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits in 4 innings to earn the win for SEARK.
The Sharks will play a 3-game set at Louisiana State University Eunice starting with a single game at 3 p.m. Friday.
UAM, OUACHITA SPLIT
In Monticello on Tuesday, Logan Jones drove in the winning run in the eighth inning of the University of Arkansas at Monticello's 7-6 nonconference win over Ouachita Baptist University. Ouachita won the first game, 14-8, after both teams combined for 9 home runs.
UAM (16-14) will resume Great American Conference play with a 3-game set starting Friday night at Arkansas Tech University.
The UAM softball team will begin a conference series at 2 p.m. today at home against Arkansas Tech.
