James H. Beam (Jim), 85 a long-time resident of White Hall and recently a resident of the Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024. Jim was born February 5, 1939, in West Mifflin, Pa. to the late Helen Marie Sorg and James Robert Beam. After Jim graduated from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957. He served for 22 years as a communications specialist. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Some of the places the Air Force took him were Hanscom AFB, Mass., where he met the love of his life, Cornelia (Connie) Tisdale, who preceded him in death after 61 years of wedded bliss. He was also stationed in Vietnam and endured the Tet Offensive. His last assignment was in Alaska. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and being in Alaska was the closest thing to being in nirvana. Upon his retirement he and Connie moved to White Hall, Ark. where they both secured employment at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, subsequently Jim found employment with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired again. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn and his two brothers, Don and Butch. Survivors include his sister-in-law Linda and husband Gordon Krueger; sister-in-law, Connie Tisdale; and brother-in-law, Ross Riggs; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece and two great-great nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, 807 S. Cherry St., Pine Bluff. Burial with Military honors to follow at 1 p.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Red Cross be made in his memory.
